We would like to send a huge "Thank You!" to the Bridge Creek community for making our first "Fill the Boot" campaign a huge success! In one week we collected $6,027.54 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association!
Firefighters from the Bridge Creek Fire Department for the first time participated in the “Fill the Boot” fundraising campaign that benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), an organization dedicated to finding a cure for muscular dystrophy, ALS, as well as other related diseases. The money that is collected during this week long event goes to finding a cure for 40 neuromuscular diseases, as well as medical treatment, research and adaptive equipment and summer camps.Through the annual “Fill the Boot” event, fire fighters across the United States and Canada have been a major contributor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1952, raising more than $350 million. The event is successful thanks to hundreds of motorists who stop to put money in fire boots. Acting as volunteer counselors for the kids, firefighters are also instrumental at MDA summer camps throughout the United States every year.
